Gnomes on the Go

OK, So ... all this year we have chronicled the travels of Traveling Tobias with an email account that was set up specifically for him to share his adventures with one individual - a friend Ross. Ross is a terrific person who is regularly tortured with gnomes by his family and friends.

So we bought Tobias and sent him all over the country with traveling friends who would take his picture at different locations. We took him on our Caribbean cruise as well. So he is well traveled.

Several times this year he sent emails to Ross describing some of the escapades in his life and the life of his made up family. This is has been fun for us and for Ross, who has had no idea of who was behind all of this. So we took the pics of Tobias' travels and put them in a scrapbook, wrapped it up with Traveling Tobias and gave it to Ross for Christmas.

A fun project has come to an end. I hope it was fun for Ross as well. He has been a great sport about the whole thing.

YES Another Scrapbook

OK, So... I am going to put together another scrapbook. DH went on the Hot Rod Power Tour last month with his friend John. They came back with lots of pics. I went to the Archivers store locally - my new favorite place - while they were on the road trip. I picked up some supplies to get me started. DH won't let me start because some guy from some other state is going to send him some pictures that he is certain he will want to include - I may never get started on this book, if that guy doesn't come through for DH. (OK, So... in the back of my head I am trying to figure out what else I can do with all this stuff.)

Happy July

Crafty, but not creative :-)

OK So, I guess I have turned into a craft freak. I got a Gocco Printer - and my friend was right when she asked me "How is it different from your printer?" I guess I am not creative enough for it so I will probably sell it or find someone to give it to. I did make some cute note cards, but I probably could have made them on my computer with CorelDraw.

I have been scrapbooking like a fiend though. My DH and I went on a cruise and so I took all of our pictures and put them into a scrapbook. I also made a really cool (I should have taken pictures, I've attached a picture from BoBunny website) word book, for a friend that went into the hospital. We do a lot of things with her and her DH. It starts out as naked chip board. I covered each individual letter with a different color paper and included pictures of the four of us along with some die cuts (yes, I bought a Sizzix BigShot). It really turned out nice - I'm proud of myself for completing TWO projects during spring break from work. Usually I would have only gotten them started and not finished.

Print Gocco

OK so, I found this really cool tool called a Print Gocco. It is made in Japan - well it was! And it seems that the company that made it (Riso, as in Risograph) stopped making it at some point recently and now the machines are difficult to find and in some places the price is very high because of demand. So if you find one, they are probably ripping you off! Anyone got one they want to get rid of? I'll be glad to take it off your hands!

Merry Christmas

OK SO...How much longer do we have to endure this "Happy Holidays" stuff. It's Christmas for me. It may be Hanukkah for you or Kwanza. But do we care are you truly offended if I say "Merry Christmas" and you are jewish? If you say Happy Hanukkah to me, I am not offended. So I say to you "Merry Christmas"! (and Happy New Year)

Geocaching

OK, So...behind the times as usual, I discovered this "sport" called geocaching. It seems that individuals hide trinkets and post their whereabouts using GPS coordinates somewhere on the web and people go in search of these trinkets. I am sure that description does not do this hobby justice, but it sounded fun when I read about it. I may have to check into this further, it seems that there are inexpensive little treasures hidden even here in our little neck of the woods! Have you done this before?

Journaling a Cruise

OK, so we booked a cruise. Some time in March we will be going thru the Carribean over 10 days. I have never done this so it will be fun. I had a couple of those Moleskine Cahier notebooks that were unused - I have a hard time jumping into a new notebook. I also had a couple sheets of what Dick Blick called wrapping paper. It is a colorful, aged looking map of Italy on a large sheet of ivory paper that I folded to use as a book cover over the black flexible Moleskine cover. Perfect for a travel journal! So now I am tracking the next 20 some odd weeks until the cruise and then the time on the ship - assuming I don't run out of pages. Might have to make journal #2 if that happens.
